The two policies work together. Our policy can help cover parts of your unit that your condo association’s master insurance policy doesn’t.
For example, the master policy could cover exterior walls of the unit. But you need condo insurance to cover your interior walls and damage to your kitchen and other rooms.
You can also get protection for your things and liability coverage with condo insurance.
This includes the stuff you own like your furniture, jewelry, clothing, appliances and electronics. Even when you travel or put things in storage, your stuff is covered.
This helps cover your unit’s interior. If you have custom or upgraded features like flooring, plumbing, cabinets and countertops, they’re covered, too.
Coverage for the things you own can extend to home sharing, exchange programs and short-term rentals. If you rent your condo to long-term tenants, you may need USAA Rental Property Insurance, also known as landlord insurance.
Condo coverage helps protect you financially if you face a lawsuit or other unexpected expense following a covered loss.
If you're at fault for someone's injury or damage to their property, personal liability coverage may help protect you and cover your legal costs up to your policy’s limits.
The cost to repair damage to common areas is shared by all condo unit owners. This coverage could help pay unexpected condo association assessments up to $50,000.

That means, for example, if your old TV has covered damage, your policy can pay the value of what a comparable make and model would go for today. You just pay your deductible.
