Personal property insurance for your stuff

Compare all the ways we can help cover your things.

What’s personal property insurance?

Personal property insurance helps pay to repair or replace your personal things, like your computer or jewelry, if they’re damaged or destroyed by a covered loss.

This type of coverage is typically part of a homeowners or renters policy. To get protection beyond what a home or renters policy covers, you can get separate policies for specific items.

Personal property insurance FAQ

This depends on how much your stuff is worth. You should consider:

  • How much it would cost to replace your stuff.
  • The value of things you have in storage.
  • What you can’t live without or pay to replace.

Yes. Most personal property policies cover this gap for you. Auto policies usually offer limited coverage for things stolen from your car.

It can, but it usually won’t give you broad protection you need for special collections. To make sure you have the right coverage, the USAA Insurance Agency offers collectibles insurance.
