Here are some ways to have greater peace of mind as you help your child start their financial journey.

Online access

Kids 13 years or older can use usaa.com or our app. If you set parental controls that let them view their accounts and more, they’ll need to register for online access before they can log on.

Using a USAA youth account FAQ

You’ll need to apply for and open a USAA Youth Spending account. Once you do, you can follow these steps to order a debit card:

  1. After you log on and get to your accounts, go to the menu and select "Order Debit Card."
  2. Select your child’s name. 
  3. Select a shipping method. 
  4. Verify the information and submit your order. 

Once they’re an adult, we'll need to verify their identity to keep the account open. You can remove yourself from their account or you can continue as a joint account holder and help them manage their money.
