What's renters insurance?

Renters insurance protects you from two kinds of loss — property and liability. Property loss happens when your things get stolen or damaged by a covered event. Liability coverage helps when you're responsible for someone else's injury or damage to their property.

Whether you're in an apartment, house, dorm or on a military base, renters insurance may help protect you from the unexpected. For some rentals, your landlord may require you to have a renters policy.
